Can We Talk? Help Inspire Teens Across America

Depositphotos_2465741_xsAre you a mom of a young woman aged 13-18? Do you know one? Are you a Sunday school teacher, grandmother, aunt, teacher, camp leader, or a mentor to teenaged girls? Are you a youth pastor? Or do you know one? Do you attend a church with a youth group?

Please consider using my new Bible study, available for purchase this August, 2015.

Shine! Young Women Radiating the Love of God addresses the following topics:

  • How God sees us
  • Fashion
  • Modesty
  • Inner beauty
  • Guys
  • Gossip
  • Friendship
  • Talents
  • Exhaustion and stress
  • Spending time with God

This is A Nine-Week Study Designed to Help Teens Get Plugged into the Circuit and Shine the Light.

Teens experience many challenges in general, in school and within various group settings. The external devices used by our teens make secular information more available, often before they are emotionally ready for it. Some of what teens use, have access to, or witness include: iPads and iPhones, raunchy suggestive magazine articles, texting and sexting, computers with internet access, pornography, television, computer games, extreme violence in schools, social media, sexuality at every turn, teen pregnancy accepted and even encouraged, and reality television shows.

Life is just hard. Hard for parents and hard for teens. A teen’s self-esteem, when based on her understanding of who God says she is, will help determine her response, participation, and choices during difficult, confusing times. Additionally, an understanding of God’s purpose and presence in her life will lead her to boldly live with confidence and bring glory to God.

Each chapter will require 1 ½ to 2 hours to complete. There are Optional Activities for Getting Plugged In are included at the end of each chapter. The facilitator may choose to teach the chapter in her home during a slumber party, allowing for more flexibility with time. I found that a theme night such as Taco Night or a Banana Split Party make the evening extra fun and memorable. But it’s perfect for camps, Sunday school, and youth meetings too.

The Journaling section is designed to encourage each teen to think specifically about how the study applies to her. It can be completed as a wrap-up during the last five minutes, or individually at home.

The Spending Time Alone with God section is not required homework. It is meant to encourage a healthy habit of meeting with God each day. Because teens are busy and often running from one activity to the next, these Scripture passages are short in length and are purposely chosen as encouragement for daily living.

Although the study was written for nine weeks, the girls in my group asked to continue meeting through the year for continued support, encouragement, and prayer time.

An optional way to teach this study is by organizing a retreat. In this case you can schedule an appropriate number of studies in a day, intertwined with activities, optional crafts, and meals. Check with your church for facilities you might be able to use at low or no cost.

After completing this Christ-centered Bible study, teens will be better equipped to live in the light of God’s truth. My heartfelt desire is that our teens will be able to constructively deal with the issues that confront them on a daily basis and then live out Matthew 5:16:

Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. (NASB)

So, can I count on you to spread the word to your friends and family? If just 1000 teens in each state got together with their friends and completed this study, potentially 50,000 lives could be changed across America! That’s exciting to me….and you can be a part of the coming change! Order the studies, share on social media, and spread the word. Thank you for helping make a difference in the lives of teens throughout this country.
