Transformed at the Fountain of Youth

I’m standing at the Fountain of Youth, here in St. Augustine, Florida.

Ha! I may return to North Carolina looking very different.

All kidding aside, I won’t be physically changed. But I will be changed on the inside, as each of us can do.

Every day that we are alive, we have the opportunity to:

  • Become wiser
  • Develop clearer thinking
  • Discern truth
  • Passionately discover our purpose
  • Make gratitude a habit
  • Be content
  • See pain and suffering as marked lessons in righteousness.

Romans 12:2 (NIV) says, “Do not be conformed any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.”

The transformation, or inner beauty makeover, begins when we allow God to change our minds, hearts, and attitudes. This isn’t hard to do, but it does requires discipline. Daily we must choose to carve out time to read His Word and talk with Him in prayer. It’s in these precious, life-changing times that God reveals His truth, purpose, faithfulness, direction, and love. Oh, how He loves us!

Then we are changed—not at the Fountain of Youth but by the hand of God. Crafted and molded into the beautiful, passionate image of Christ.

Be joyful in hope, patient in application, faithful in prayer. Romans 12:12 (NIV)
